I tend to get more of my information about the world from my online connections and databases than anywhere else and this became very apparent for me when I lost my computer to that dreaded blue screen and did not have access at home.

So, now that I am back online I will be changing my blog, website and other information out here in the online world. It was very true to life, in showing how these women and their friendships changed and the challenges faced when life throws you a curve ball.

I read this book in two days and immediately went out and bought her first book, Loved Walked In. It was a love story filled with adventure, tragedy and family. The best part was that it was true. I thought to myself "who has time for hobbies?" Then I heard someone say reading. It hadn't occured to me, it was more like "Oh, reading. Well, reading is my life!"

It was funny because I do not think of it as a hobby. It is part of my life, who I am and I can not image my life with out books and the ability to read each and every day. I usually have 3 or 4 books going at a time, sometimes audio too. I try to mix it up and I read a bit of everything. Currently I am listening to Ask and It Is Given, and reading Eat, Pray, Love, and What Color is Your Parachute?.

I found the link to this cute test on Nancy Keanes blog.

Which Sesame Street Character Are You?

You are Big Bird. However, I could see using it in the library to promote events and what is happening on a daily/hourly basis.

As you can see I have been playing with the online image generators and plan on using them to add to my blog(s).

I am enjoying having a Del.icio.us account that can be accessed at whatever library I am currently subbing for.

Librarian Flickr Account

http://www.flickr.com/photos/librarianteacher/

RSS Feeds for Class

So I signed up for a few....
Common Craft
David Lee King
Library Garden
Library Bytes
Newest Kids Fiction from Seattle Public Library
Popular Fiction from Seattle Public Library
The Goblin in the Library
The Liminal Librarian
and last but not least RSS feed for Library Job Postings as I am searching for my next Gig!

I could have went on, but I am going to be adjusting to keeping up with this as it is. Great for teens. Book one of what has evolved into a series.

Recommended for YA.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Finished the book and my son was right about his horcrux theory, it was dead on. Hamilton. If you like her vampire series, but not all the gore, this series is for you. I had read a few of the Anita Black series and enjoyed them, but grew tired of the blood and gore.

The first book Bitten is narrated by Elena, a female werewolf. It is an adventure, romance and mystery all in one. The latest book is No Humans Involved, narrated by Jaime who is a necromancer (she can communicate and raise the dead, if necessary). I listened to the first book and thought that was the authors only work. Then, I recently discovered her newest book and I have spent the last month going back and reading all of them. This is a wonderful series with supernatural elements, strong women characters, danger, adventure, mystery, magic and romance and you do not need to read them in chronological order to understand them.

Highly Recommended

Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix

Okay, okay. It is somewhat like having a computer connected to the internet. The feed tells you about news, items you can buy, latest trends and places to go. The story starts out with Titus and his friends going to the moon for spring break. Titus meets Violet there and a friendship begins. Violet cares about what is happening in the world and challenges everything Titus and his friends know and believe about the feed.

This book reminds me of 1984 and is somewhat scary, because I think it is actually possible we could end up in a world like the one described.

Highly recommended.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://harperlibrarian.blogspot.com/2007/06/feed-by-mt-anderson.html' title='Feed by M.T. The book is to be released June 2007, written by Nicky Singer.

"OK. This is what I think happened: I got blown up. Boom, boom, explosion, Cassina Dixon, aged thirteen, is blasted limb from limb. I'm not trying to be funny about this (a characteristic of my father's) but to try and explain it, if only to myself. You see, I'm not quite the person I was at 5:11 p.m. yesterday afternoon. In fact, I may not be a person at all"

So the book begins with 13 year old Cassina narrating her story and her existence as a "para-spirit" after being killed in a terrorist bombing. She travels through various hosts listening to their thoughts and seeing the world as they see it, including the bomber. Very interesting book, with lots of questions and insights as to why we humans do what we do.

Highly recommended.
